1. Will You Have The Experience of a Professional DJ?Is your DJ really a student, bartender
or used car salesman in disguise? Sadly, many DJ companies
recruit moonlighters with little or no experience as a disc
jockey -- sometimes for as little as $75 a night! Without the
experience of a DJ professional, you risk turning your
once-in-a-lifetime event into an on-the-job training classroom!

2. What Type of Performance Experience Does Your Disc Jockey Have? Many mobile
DJ's started in clubs, where their primary job was mixing
records, not an emcee or entertainer. The best mobile
DJ's are part showmen and part problem-solvers... part music
expert and part diplomat. These "Party Hosts" have
great personality and stage presence to help motivate your crowd
to have fun. At weddings, they emcee your traditional dances and
events, and help make your caterer's and photographer's jobs run
more smoothly.

3. Can You Verify Your DJ's References? The quality of your DJ can mean the
success or failure of your entire event! After the last song is
played, your guests may not recall what food was served... but
will surely remember if "the man with the microphone"
was less than professional. Many companies send glowing
testimonials, but beware... the actual DJ who earned that praise
may be long gone from the company! Be sure references are not
only for the company you hire but for the
individual disc jockey that will appear at your
event. |

4. Is The Price of Your Disc Jockey a Good Value? The
cheapest-priced DJ is rarely the best value. You are
choosing the person who will help set the tone for your entire
event, and the enjoyment of your guests. Don't chance ruining the
impressions of fine catering, elaborate decorations and expensive
flowers by trying to save a few dollars with a discount disc
jockey.

5. What Type of Equipment Will Your DJ Bring? Is
the sound equipment modern, professional and powerful
enough for your hall? Is it presented attractively in cases, or
simply thrown on top of a banquet table with exposed wires
hanging down for all to see? Will the DJ drape their setup area
to complement your flowers and decorations? Can your DJ guarantee
in writing his setup will be fully completed on time, or
still be plugging in speakers when your first guests arrive? If you order
lighting for your dance floor, will the effects be exciting and bright enough to
cover that whole area?

6. Is Your DJ Familiar With All Types of Music?A DJ's
biggest challenge is blending music to please a wide variety of
age groups. Your DJ should have the maturity, knowledge and
experience to "read" your crowd and blend the music all
your guests will respond to best... not just the DJ's personal
favorites. Be careful! Many DJ's who advertise you a choice
of "thousands" of songs really only bring a few
hundred to your event. |
